Oh my Cot, He's huge.

Hello

Long time, no post. I know, I know.
Well Kai didn't exactly sleep through the night after that last post.
In fact I think he just lulled us into a false sense of security because pretty soon afterwards he started to wake at least once a night, sometimes twice. Now he's down to only once a night around two o'clock although you can expect that to change now that I've written this.

He certainly is a happy chappy that's for sure as every morning we wake up to his laughter and giggling, when we check on him, he just fixes us with a big grin as if we had finally made it to his party. Good for us. We think he's just happy to be upgraded to his cot.

In case you didn't know my sister Alicia and her three boys have moved up here as well from Melbourne and are still getting to know the town. Alicia is hanging out to baby-sit her nephew every chance she gets and it's nice to know she's still so excited about changing nappies and being spewed on.

By the way, Kelly and I are doing fine, we love being parents, even I feel really calm around Kai and can't wait to change him or feed him or put him to bed. But my favorite is trying to remember all those silly songs or just fudging words in good songs just to see Kai smile. I understand it all now that I've seen him smile at me because I'm me. His dad. That he knows.

Okay
Will try to make this posting thing a habit and there is a lot more video coming your way so don't touch that dial. Do not touch it.
Bye,

Evan.

And the living is easier...

Hello all,

Well the good news is is that Kai is having some nice long sleeps at night, nine hours being the longest. He still loves to put up a fight when it's nap-time during the day but at night, like clockwork, he goes down.

This has meant that Kelly and I now get nice long sleeps ourselves. The first few times this happened, at the slightest sound that Kai makes in the mornings, Kelly fairly sprinted out of bed to check on him before I, who had been listening to him go "Ehhh!" occasionally for about half an hour, can sit up.

When he does wake though he is so happy to see us and us to see him. He fixes you in his gaze and you can see the realization dawn on him that WE are there. He is calm, quiet and even enjoys being changed. As long as he can see you with his big, blue (for now?) eyes.

All this sleeping means that Kelly and I are seeing a lot more of each other these days. We can actually cook together and eat dinner at the same time (sometimes). A movie isn't out of the question either. Kai, while still demanding, is less intrusive and it's becoming easier to read the signs which makes him a lot less stressed and us a lot happier.

You'll find that life is still worthwhile,
If you just smile.
Evan.

The Current Era is like last week

Hello all,

Well, another interesting week getting to know Kai. He is smiling a lot more and even giggling a bit. He loves to fall asleep on Kelly's chest and in my arms. He has the occasional long sleep of the day but the rest of them are short and intermittent. His cries are even starting to make sense.
It's getting to be a pleasure to interact with the little guy as long as he's warm, fed, clean and can see you in front of him.
If you do not comply, there will be kicking o' the feet an' shaking o' the fists an', o' course, the gnashing o' the gums. Oh, waily, waily, waily!*

This New Year's Eve we decided to relax, rent a movie, get some Thai take-out and go to bed early. Kai, the party animal, had other ideas and woke us all up at a few minutes to midnight so that we could all have some milk to welcome in the first day of the Gregorian Year. He's so darn thoughtful he is.

Here are this weeks fav pics:

Come back soon y'hear,
